Patient Resource Information
Often it is difficult for patients and families to find information about lung cancer and its treatment. Lung Cancer Connection provides newly diagnosed patients, in the greater St. Louis area, our patient resource bags filled with current information regarding lung cancer diagnoses and treatment of the disease.
Our Lung Cancer Connection patient resource bags are available at most St. Louis area cancer centers and hospitals. If you are interested in receiving a bag, please contact your hospital or cancer center. If your hospital or cancer center does not provide these resource bags, please contact us at info@LungCancerConnectionInc.org.
The patient resource bags include the following: A letter detailing who Lung Cancer Connection is and what we do, a patient resource guide, information from the St. Louis Cancer Support Community, materials from ASCO detailing lung cancer and understanding immunotherapy, and booklets on cancer survivorship, non-small cell lung cancer, as well as caregiving. Information from Lung Cancer Alliance information on coping with reactions to your diagnosis and the dealing with the stigma, a YMCA booklet with advice on healing the whole person, and information regarding the dangers of radon gas and how to protect your family.
Local Support Groups
Cancer Support Community of Greater St. Louis
In St. Louis, Lung Cancer Connection is proud to partner with the Cancer Support Community and underwrite a support group for lung cancer patients and their caregivers. Meetings are held at the Cancer Support Community (formerly the Wellness Community) on the second Thursday of each month, 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. The address is 1058 Old Des Peres Rd., St. Louis, MO 63131. Participation is free, and no registration is required.
The Cancer Support Community has more than fifty local affiliates across the United States, providing essential services, such as support groups, counseling, education and healthy lifestyle programs for cancer patients. Mercy South Cancer Care Center
Mercy South holds a monthly support group to give people with lung cancer and/or their family and friends the opprtunity to share resources, ideas to manage side effects and an opportunity to get and give support to others. Meetings are held at the Mercy South Cancer Care Center on the third Tuesday of each month, 1:00 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. The address is 10010 Kennerly Rd., St. Louis, MO 63128.
